climbing & bouldering

This is a beautiful part of Cornwall and the nearby tors of Bodmin Moor are good for climbing and bouldering.
Also close to here is the Cheesewring Quarry at Minions and both the north and south coast are easy to reach.

Bodmin Moor Tors
These tors are a 5 minute drive from Eastgate Barn and are all on Access Land (see the newest OS map,  Explorer 109):

Kilmar Tor Grid Ref. SX253749
Kilmar is a rugged granite ridge and the highest tor on this eastern side of Bodmin Moor, 396m. There are two climbs that you will need climbing equipment for and great scope for bouldering.

These tors are within 1km of Kilmar on Twelve Men's Moor:

Bearah Tor Grid Ref. SX253749
A short walk south-east of Kilmar is Bearah Tor, a small low ridge with a private quarry on one side.

Trewortha Tor Grid Ref. SX244757
Trewortha Tor, 1km north-west of Kilmar, has good bouldering and one short chimney.

Hawk's Tor Grid Ref. SX254764
There are a number of difficult climbs on Hawk's Tor, so you will need a guide to explore this tor fully.

Cheesewring Quarry Grid Ref. SX256729
This granite quarry is on the southern side of Stowes Hill near Minions and is on Access Land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. There are many climbs around the wall of the quarry.

These climbs and more in the area are described in 'Cheesewring & South East Cornwall, a Climbers' Guide' by Sean Hawken.
