Birds |

Many birds breed here in the trees and hedgerows; many routinely visiting the garden feeders so you will see song thrush, blackbirds, tits, warblers, wagtails, dunnock, sparrows, nuthatch, chaffinch, greenfinch, jay, fieldfare and many more. |
| Barn owls roost in the old trees and we hear these and tawny owls calling across the valley. They need rough grassland and woodlands for hunting their prey, usually mice and voles. | |
| Woodpeckers live in the nearby oak trees and occasionally visit the garden. | |
| Swallows breed here in the summer, also house martins and swifts. | |
| A heron regularly visits the valley, and buzzards circle overhead. |
